Starting Woodturning
Woodturning is a new hobby to me but I have been working with wood for years, in my late 20's I was making wooden toys, wall clocks, birdhouses, ect! In a small garden shed fitted out with an industrial fretsaw, my second hobby was keeping birds; over the years I have built a few big aviary’s, sheds and all the breeding cages, nest boxes and other bits & bob’s. Now my children have grown up I was looking for a new hobby as I have a bit more time on my hands woodturning has always appealed to me but I never got around to doing it, now I have started and got the bug I can not get enough of it, one of the best things I did was to join our local wood turning club where I found out about the do's and don’ts of woodturning. The lathe I went for is a JET 1642 this is classed as a trade lathe and is powerful enough for what I want to use it for.
